Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna says that Linga-archane without Jangama is like water poured into a broken pot.
Linga-archane in the presence of Jangama is the path of Bhakti.
For him, the bhoga and upabhoga of Jangama-Prasada itself is Linga-archane. If another way is known or followed apart from this, Kudalasangama Deva casts the seeker into naraka.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
Linga-archane without Jangama is the first contrast. Worship is present, but the living Jangama relation is absent.
Water poured into a broken pot is the central image. The water may be pure, but the vessel cannot hold it. In the same way, Linga-worship separated from Jangama cannot retain its proper fruit.
Linga-archane in the presence of Jangama gives the correction. Basavanna does not reject Linga-archane; he places it within Jangama-sannihita, the living presence of Jangama.
The path of Bhakti is defined through this union. Devotion becomes true when Linga-worship and Jangama-presence are not divided.
Jangama-Prasada gives the final completion. To partake of Jangama-Prasada, in bhoga and upabhoga, is itself Linga-archane for Basavanna.
The warning of naraka completes the vachana. A path that separates Linga from Jangama and Prasada becomes a path of loss before Kudalasangama Deva.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches that Linga, Jangama, and Prasada must not be divided.
The practice-point is direct: do not perform Linga-archane apart from Jangama. Let worship become complete in Jangama-presence, and receive Jangama-Prasada as the living fulfillment of Linga-archane.
For Sharana Sthala, this is Bhakti held in the integrated field of Linga, Jangama, and Prasada.
Editorial Commentary
The broken-pot image should remain the governing image. Basavanna is not dismissing Linga-archane; he is showing that Linga-archane becomes fruitless when cut off from Jangama. The strongest line is the identification of Jangama-Prasada bhoga-upabhoga with Linga-archane itself.

Pranalingi Sthala Vachana 961 — The Descent of Linga into Prana
Pranalingi Vachana 961 supports this teaching by showing that Linga-archane performed outwardly upon the body does not by itself end bhava. Linga must become inwardly joined with prana, and the realization must pass through Dasoha and Jangama as Mukhalinga. Vachana 398 gives the Sharana form of that same integration: Linga-archane without Jangama is like water in a broken pot, while Jangama-present worship and Jangama-Prasada complete the path of Bhakti.

Aikya Sthala Vachana 1190 — The Prasada of Jangama and the Prasada of Linga Are One
Aikya Vachana 1190 advances this teaching by declaring that the true devotee knows Jangama as Prana-Linga, and that without Jangama-Prasada, Linga-Prasada cannot be received. Vachana 398 says that the partaking of Jangama-Prasada is itself Linga-archane; Aikya Vachana 1190 carries this into Aikya, where the Prasada of Jangama and the Prasada of Linga are known as one before Kudalasangama Deva.
