Vachana 509- Through Your Anubhava

Summary

In this vachana, Basavanna says that through Kudalasangama Deva’s Anubhava, his body was undone, his mind was undone, and his karma was cut.

The movement is not presented as self-made achievement. It happens through the Lord’s Anubhava. Body, mind, and karma no longer stand as before.

Basavanna then turns to the Sharanas. They have shown again and again the ornament of Bhakti, making it firm and visible. The vachana therefore joins Divine Anubhava with Sharana-guided devotion.

Imagery & Symbolic Relevance

The body being undone shows the loosening of bodily hold. Basavanna does not speak here of physical death, but of transformation through Anubhava.

The mind being undone shows that mental self-claim no longer remains in the same way. The mind is not praised as master; it is overcome through Anubhava.

The cutting of karma is central. Basavanna directly says that karma has been severed through the Lord’s Anubhava.

The Sharanas showing Bhakti again and again gives the vachana its living context. Bhakti is not left vague. It is shown, made firm, and revealed through those who live it.

The ornament of Bhakti represents devotion made visible and steady. It is not mere word or claim; it is something established before the seeker.

Lingayoga

In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches that body, mind, and karma are transformed through Anubhava, not through self-claim.

For Prasadi Sthala, the teaching is that grace received as Anubhava must affect the whole seeker. It touches body, mind, and karma, and the Sharanas show how Bhakti is to be made firm.

Editorial Commentary

The repeated phrase “through Your Anubhava” should remain central. It governs the whole vachana.

The body and mind are not described as independently controlled by the seeker. They are undone through Divine Anubhava.

The Sharanas are important because they show Bhakti repeatedly and firmly. Their role should not be reduced to instruction alone; the source says they show it.

Supporting Vachana

Maheshwara Sthala Vachana 673 — The Needle’s Test

Maheshwara Vachana 673 supports this vachana by speaking of the house of the Sharanas, where Shiva-rasa must ripen into living experience. In Vachana 509, Basavanna says that through Anubhava, body and mind were undone, karma was cut, and the Sharanas showed Bhakti firmly. Both vachanas place transformation within living contact with the Sharana field and the ripening of experience.

Advancing Vachana

Pranalingi Sthala Vachana 979 — Without Experience, Nothing Ripens

Pranalingi Vachana 979 advances this teaching by saying that devotion without Anubhava does not arrive, and that gathering among Shiva Sharanas has meaning only when realization awakens within. In Vachana 509, Basavanna says that through the Lord’s Anubhava, body, mind, and karma were transformed, and the Sharanas showed Bhakti firmly.
