Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna prays that each faculty be filled by Kudalasangama Deva. Speech is to be filled with the nectar of the Name, the eyes with the Divine form, the mind with remembrance, and the ears with praise.
The movement is not away from the senses, but through their sanctification. Speech, sight, mind, and hearing are not rejected; they are filled so that they no longer wander separately.
The final prayer gathers the whole being at the lotus feet of Kudalasangama Deva. Basavanna does not ask for partial devotion. He asks to be filled entirely within the Lord’s feet.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
Speech filled with the nectar of the Name is the first image. Speech is no longer left to ordinary talk, self-expression, or scattered words. It becomes filled with the sweetness of Divine remembrance.
The eyes filled with the form are the second image. Sight is not allowed to remain restless among many objects. It is directed toward the form of Kudalasangama Deva.
The mind filled with remembrance is the center of the vachana. If the mind is not filled with remembrance, the other faculties can still scatter. Basavanna therefore places remembrance within the mind itself.
The ears filled with praise complete the sequence of faculties. Hearing is not merely passive reception. It must be filled with what keeps the Lord’s greatness alive within the seeker.
The lotus feet of Kudalasangama Deva are the final image. After speech, eyes, mind, and ears are filled, Basavanna asks that he himself be filled within the Lord’s feet. The prayer moves from faculty to whole surrender.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches consecration of the faculties. The seeker does not abandon speech, sight, mind, or hearing; each is redirected toward Kudalasangama Deva.
For Pranalingi Sthala, the teaching is one of inner filling. The Linga must enter the faculties as Name, form, remembrance, and praise. Practice becomes continuous when each opening of the being is filled with the Lord.
The practice-point is direct: do not leave any faculty empty or wandering. Let speech, sight, mind, and hearing be filled so that the whole being rests at the lotus feet of Kudalasangama Deva.
Editorial Commentary
The repeated word “filled” should be preserved. It is the structural heart of the vachana. Basavanna is not asking merely for control of the faculties, but for their saturation in the Divine.
The sequence is also important: speech, eyes, mind, and ears. The faculties that express, perceive, remember, and receive are all brought under Kudalasangama Deva.
The final line prevents the vachana from remaining only a discipline of the senses. The whole person must be filled within the Lord’s lotus feet.

Supporting Vachana
Prasadi Sthala Vachana 865 — The Sacred Meeting of Bhakta and Jangama
Prasadi Vachana 865 supports this vachana by showing the faculties filled in sacred reception. There, when the Jangama arrives, the Bhakta fills the eyes by seeing, fills the ears by hearing, fills the mouth with reverent speech, and the body and mind melt in the meeting.
Vachana 492 carries the same principle inward toward Kudalasangama Deva. Speech is filled with Name-nectar, the eyes with form, the mind with remembrance, and the ears with praise. Thus Prasadi Vachana 865 supports the Pranalingi teaching that devotion must fill the faculties rather than remain an outer act alone.
Advancing Vachana
Sharana Sthala Vachana 808 — The Measure of True Dasoha
Sharana Vachana 808 advances this teaching by carrying filled faculties into integrated living. In Vachana 492, speech, eyes, mind, and ears are filled with Kudalasangama Deva. In Vachana 808, body, life, inner being, and speech become dimensions of service, while the way of Prana-Linga shines only among the Sharanas.
Thus the Pranalingi sanctification of the faculties advances into Sharana Sthala as complete integration. What is first prayed for as filling becomes lived as body, life, inner being, speech, Kayaka, and Dasoha arising from the Prana-Linga before Kudalasangama Deva.
