Vachana 963- Body, Mind, and Being as the Vessels of Linga

Summary

In this vachana, Basavanna gives a precise sequence of vessels. For the Linga established upon the Anga, the Anga itself is the vessel. For the Linga established upon prana, the mind is the vessel. For the Linga established upon Arivu, bhava itself is the vessel.

The teaching is direct. Linga is not held in the same way at every level. As the relation deepens from body to prana to Arivu, the corresponding vessel also changes from Anga to mind to bhava.

Basavanna then brings the sequence to Prabhudeva’s ārogaṇe. For that sacred receiving, he sees no other vessel except Bhakti-pariyāṇa. Body, mind, and bhava may each serve as vessel in their proper field, but the sustaining and acceptable vessel before Prabhudeva is Bhakti.

The spiritual concern placed before Kudalasangama Deva is therefore proper receptivity. The seeker must understand what can hold Linga at each level, and must finally recognize that Bhakti alone makes the whole movement fit for sacred receiving.

Lingayoga

In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches that Linga-relation must be held appropriately at each level of the seeker’s being. Body, mind, and bhava are not rejected; each becomes a vessel when properly related to Linga.

For Pranalingi Sthala, the point is precise. When Linga is related to prana, the mind must become the vessel. Life-force cannot be inwardly aligned if the mind remains unfit or scattered.

The practice-point is clear: let the body become the vessel for embodied Linga, let the mind become the vessel for Linga related to prana, and let bhava become the vessel for Linga in Arivu. Above all, let Bhakti-pariyāṇa be the vessel fit for Prabhudeva’s ārogaṇe.

Supporting Vachana

Prasadi Sthala Vachana 728 — Breath of Being

Prasadi Vachana 728 supports this teaching by giving the proper sacred ordering of the seeker’s life. There, the mind belongs to Linga, wealth belongs to Jangama, the body belongs to Prasada, and speech belongs to Linga-Jangama-Prasada.

Vachana 963 carries this ordering into Pranalingi Sthala. Body, mind, and bhava each become vessels for Linga at their proper level, and Bhakti-pariyāṇa becomes the only vessel fit for Prabhudeva’s sacred receiving. What Prasadi 728 consecrates as mind, body, wealth, and speech becomes, here, the Pranalingi structure of proper receptivity before Kudalasangama Deva.

Advancing Vachana

Sharana Sthala Vachana 808 — The Measure of True Dasoha

Sharana Vachana 808 advances this teaching by showing body, life, inner being, and speech as dimensions of true service. Yet it says that the way of Prana-Linga is rare and known only among the Sharanas of Kudalasangama Deva.

In Vachana 963, body, mind, and bhava become vessels for Linga, while Bhakti-pariyāṇa becomes the only vessel fit for Prabhudeva’s ārogaṇe. In Vachana 808, this matures into Sharana Sthala as complete integration: body, life, inner being, speech, Kayaka, and Dasoha arise from the way of Prana-Linga. Thus the Pranalingi teaching of vessel and Bhakti advances into Sharana life as total Dasoha before Kudalasangama Deva.
