Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna asks why one should remain with samsara when the way to Kudalasangama is open.
He gives the remedy: make every day Śivarātri. Do archana and puja quickly, without waiting for a special time or later readiness.
The aim is union with Kudalasangama. Worship is not postponed to an appointed night; it becomes the daily movement by which the seeker turns away from samsara and joins the Divine.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
Samsara is the first field questioned. Basavanna asks why the seeker should continue in worldly entanglement when another movement is possible.
Śivarātri is the central image. A sacred observance usually tied to a particular night is expanded into a daily discipline.
The phrase “day after day” gives the vachana its force. Spiritual life is not to be left for rare occasions.
The repeated urgency, “quickly, quickly,” shows that worship must become immediate. Archana and puja should not remain intentions for some future time.
The final movement is “joining Kudalasangama.” Worship is therefore not merely ceremonial action. It is the practical path away from samsara and toward union with Kudalasangama Deva.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, every day must become a field of turning toward Linga.
The Anga cannot divide life into sacred and ordinary compartments. Each day must be brought into worship.
Archana and puja become disciplines of gathered awareness. They prevent the mind from settling back into samsaric movement.
Practice matures when daily worship becomes the way the seeker moves toward union with Kudalasangama Deva.
