Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna prays to Kudalasangama Deva not to be known as one of corrupt habit or wrong conduct.
Instead, he asks to be known as Linga-vyasani and Jangama-preemi — one absorbed in the Linga and one who loves the Jangama.

Linga-vyasani is the first sacred inversion. The word suggests an intense attachment, but Basavanna turns that force toward the Linga. Let the seeker be consumed by Linga, not by worldly craving.
Jangama-preemi is the second. Love for the Jangama becomes the living sign of devotion. The seeker is not merely to avoid bad conduct; he must enter a relation of reverence and love.
The phrase “it must be experienced” is rejected as an excuse. It can become the speech of one who justifies indulgence as unavoidable.
The folded plea gives the vachana its humility. Basavanna does not declare himself complete; he asks Kudalasangama Deva to make his identity true.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, the seeker must examine what he is attached to.
The Anga may be drawn by habit, pleasure, or self-justifying thought. Basavanna asks that this attachment be turned toward Linga.
Jangama-love prevents devotion from becoming inward isolation. The seeker’s relation to living presence must become tender, reverent, and active.
Practice matures when the seeker no longer hides behind spiritual language or karmic excuses, but becomes inwardly aligned with Linga and outwardly softened toward Jangama.

Basavanna asks not for a better name alone, but for a life that truly deserves the name Linga-vyasani and Jangama-preemi.
