Vachana 1219 — The Mirror of Infinite Reflections

Summary

Basavanna addresses Kudalasangama Deva as Deva of Devas and Mahaprasada. He asks whether he possesses any independent freedom apart from what the Lord’s sacred feet direct.

He compares this relation to a face and its reflection in a mirror: the reflection cannot establish a different bhava from the face it reflects.

Within the infinite signs that move and appear, Kudalasangama Deva alone abides; within Him, infinite further signs remain concealed. Even the sacred offering prepared for the Lord is presented to the Lord without a claim of independent giverhood.
