Vachana 1225 — The Fivefold Offering Beyond Ego

Summary

The claim, “I performed this through wealth and sacred giving,” fails before the offering reaches fulfilment. Basavanna then presents five forms of Parusha—transforming contact through the hand, sight, speech, mind, and Bhava.

What the hand touches and offers is exhausted. What sight offers increases. What speech offers disappears. What the mind holds in remembrance remains established. What Bhava offers is transmuted toward Nirbhava.

Whatever is touched and given through these five transforming contacts passes beyond visibility before it can be claimed or observed.

Basavanna ends with a severe confession: he was undone by thinking that he knew the satisfaction of Kudalasangama Deva.
