Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna calls the mortal world the workshop of the Lord. Human life is the place where the seeker is formed, tested, and made fit.
What becomes true here remains true there. What fails here does not become fulfilled elsewhere by mere passage.
Basavanna teaches present responsibility. Devotion, conduct, and inward alignment must be shaped in this life before Kudalasangama Deva.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
The workshop is the central image. A workshop is not a place of display, but of making.
Raw material enters it to be worked upon. It is shaped, corrected, strengthened, and made usable.
Basavanna applies this to mortal life. The world is not dismissed as worthless; it is the field in which the seeker must be made true.
The contrast between “here” and “there” gives the vachana its force. The future does not cancel the present. It carries forward what has been formed.
Kudalasangama Deva is the Lord of the workshop. Therefore, embodied life itself becomes the place of spiritual accountability.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, the Anga must use human life as the field of practice. The body, mind, conduct, and awareness are shaped here.
This vachana does not allow postponement. The seeker cannot leave transformation to another time or condition.
Practice must enter daily life. Worship, remembrance, work, and relation become part of the shaping process.
Lingayoga matures when the seeker accepts this world as the place where Kudalasangama Deva’s work must be completed.
Editorial Commentary
This vachana gives dignity and urgency to mortal life.
Basavanna’s workshop image makes the present world the field of formation, not a stage to be ignored.
