Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna repeats the cry: “There is none for me, there is none for me.”
That cry is answered by the Sharanas. Kakkayya, the elder, and Chennayya, the younger, lift him and draw him near with affection.
Before Kudalasangayya, the teaching is that the seeker is not abandoned when the Sharanas receive him.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
“There is none for me” is the opening condition. It gives the feeling of being without support or belonging.
The repetition deepens the wound. Basavanna does not treat this as a passing statement; it is a felt condition that must be answered.
Kakkayya as elder gives the first relation of support. He stands as one who can lift from a place of Sharana seniority.
Chennayya as younger gives the second relation. Support does not come from one direction alone; the Sharana field surrounds the seeker through living relationship.
Lifting is the central action. The seeker does not rise by self-claim; he is raised by the Sharanas.
Drawing near with affection completes the image. The Sharanas do not merely correct from a distance. They bring the seeker into nearness.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches that the path is not sustained by solitary strength alone.
The practice-point is direct: when the mind says there is no one, do not accept that as final. Allow the Sharanas of Kudalasangama Deva to lift, steady, and bring the seeker near.
For Sharana Sthala, this is refuge through being received by the realized ones.
Editorial Commentary
The relational terms are important: Kakkayya is elder, Chennayya is younger, and both act. The force of the vachana lies in the contrast between the repeated cry of having no one and the actual nearness given by the Sharanas. Kudalasangayya is addressed as the one before whom this upliftment becomes true refuge.

Pranalingi Sthala Vachana 352 — The Hidden Source and the Hand’s Devotion
Pranalingi Vachana 352 supports this teaching by answering the claim that there is no one for the seeker through the hidden source placed in the hand as living devotion. Vachana 353 gives the Sharana form of that same answer: Kakkayya and Chennayya do not leave Basavanna unsupported, but lift him and draw him near with affection before Kudalasangama Deva.
Advancing Vachana
Aikya Sthala Vachana 1348 — All Are the Children of Chennayya
Aikya Vachana 1348 advances this teaching by expanding Chennayya’s relation beyond one seeker into a universal field of belonging. Vachana 353 shows Basavanna lifted and brought near by Kakkayya and Chennayya; Aikya Vachana 1348 carries that nearness into a completed vision where all beings are children of Chennayya before Kudalasangama Deva.
