Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna speaks of the body brought into movement by Kudalasangama Deva. The body acts, breathes, and lives, but it does not know itself by its own power.
He describes the body as formed from the five elements. When seen only as elemental, it becomes a ground of mistaken identity. When sustained by the Lord, it becomes Prasada-kāya: a body received through grace.
The teaching is direct: bodily life is not self-owned. The body moves, but the sustaining Lord remains unmoving within it.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
The moving body is the first image. It walks, acts, breathes, and participates in the world, but its movement is not independent.
The five-element body shows the body’s formed condition. Elements give structure, but not true self-knowing.
Prasada-kāya is the turning point. The same body that may be mistaken as self becomes sacred when known as received and sustained by Kudalasangama Deva.
The unmoving presence within movement is the heart of the vachana. Basavanna does not ask the body to stop moving; he asks the seeker to recognize the Lord who sustains movement without being carried by it.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches the distinction between body and sustaining Linga. Breath, life, and movement are not personal possessions; they are received through the Lord’s Prasada.
For Pranalingi Sthala, the body becomes meaningful when known as Prasada-kāya. It is not rejected, but it is no longer claimed as independent.
The practice-point is simple: let the body act in its field, but remain aware of the unmoving presence that sustains it before Kudalasangama Deva.
Editorial Commentary
The contrast between pañcabhūta-kāya and Prasada-kāya should remain central. Basavanna is showing how the elemental body becomes spiritually meaningful only when seen as sustained by the Lord.
The unmoving presence is not physical stillness. The body may continue to act; the stillness belongs to Kudalasangama Deva within.

Prasadi Sthala Vachana 728 — Breath of Being
Prasadi Vachana 728 supports this vachana by giving the sacred ordering of life: mind to Linga, wealth to Jangama, body to Prasada, and speech to Linga-Jangama-Prasada.
Vachana 789 carries this into Pranalingi Sthala. The five-element body is not self-owned or self-knowing. When sustained by Kudalasangama Deva, it becomes Prasada-kāya.

Sharana Sthala Vachana 808 — The Measure of True Dasoha
Sharana Vachana 808 advances this teaching by carrying body, life, inner being, and speech into the way of Prana-Linga. There, service becomes complete only when these dimensions are integrated among the Sharanas.
In Vachana 789, the body is known as Prasada-kāya. In Vachana 808, this recognition matures into Sharana Sthala as lived Dasoha, where body, life, speech, and awareness move through Prana-Linga before Kudalasangama Deva.
