Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna presents the path as a living growth.
Bhakti is the earth. Guru is the seed planted in that earth. From the seed arises Linga as the leaf.
Upon the leaf of Linga, vichara becomes the flower. From that flowering, achara becomes the fruit. When nishpatti ripens, Kudalasangama Deva takes that fruit as His own. The vachana teaches that the path matures through a precise sequence: devotion, Guru, Linga, inquiry, conduct, fulfillment.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
Bhakti as earth is the first image. Earth receives, holds, and nourishes. Without this ground, no seed can take root.
Guru as seed gives the beginning of growth. The Guru must not remain merely outside the seeker; the seed must enter the soil of devotion.
Linga as leaf is the first visible emergence. It shows that the Guru-seed has become living within the field of bhakti.
Vichara as flower marks refinement. Inquiry is not dry analysis here; it is the flowering of awakened relation to Linga.
Achara as fruit shows maturity. Right conduct is not an external rule added to devotion. It is the fruit produced by proper growth.
Nishpatti is the ripened fruit. When it is complete, it loosens from the stalk and is taken by Kudalasangama Deva.
The final image is important. Fulfillment is not claimed by the seeker. It becomes worthy of being received by the Divine.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, the path must be allowed to grow in order.
The Anga cannot force fruit before seed, leaf, and flower have appeared. Bhakti must first become the ground.
Guru plants the living impulse. Linga emerges as the center of awareness. Vichara refines the relation. Achara gives it embodied form.
Nishpatti is not a separate ornament at the end; it is the ripening of the whole process.
Practice matures when every stage supports the next and the final fruit belongs to Kudalasangama Deva.
