Summary
In this vachana, Basavanna presents an image of sacred preparation.
There is a vessel ready to receive. Chennabasavanna brings water into it. Madiwalayya brings grain. The materials are present, but the preparation is not yet complete.
Basavanna turns to Kudalasangama Deva and asks Him to make it whole.
The teaching is that the Sharanas may bring what is needed, but fulfillment does not arise from arrangement alone. The gathered elements must be completed by Kudalasangama Deva’s grace.
Imagery & Symbolic Relevance
The vessel is the first image. It is ready, but empty by itself. It can hold what is brought to it, yet it cannot complete the preparation on its own.
Chennabasavanna bringing water shows the arrival of a necessary element through the Sharana. Water prepares, softens, and makes further transformation possible.
Madiwalayya bringing grain adds the element of nourishment. Grain has value, but it must still be prepared before it becomes food.
Together, vessel, water, and grain form the condition for completion. Yet Basavanna does not present the gathered materials as sufficient. He asks Kudalasangama Deva to bring the process to fulfillment.
The image should therefore be read as preparation awaiting grace. The Sharanas participate, the materials gather, but completion belongs to Kudalasangama Deva.
Lingayoga
In Lingayoga, this vachana teaches that the path is not completed by isolated effort.
The seeker may become fit to receive. The Sharanas may bring guidance, nourishment, and preparation. Still, the final transformation must be granted by Kudalasangama Deva.
For Prasadi Sthala, the teaching is clear. Prasada is not merely the presence of materials or actions. It is what becomes complete when what is received is transformed through Divine grace.
Editorial Commentary
The visible sequence is simple: a vessel is present, Chennabasavanna brings water, Madiwalayya brings grain, and Basavanna asks Kudalasangama Deva to complete the preparation.
Chennabasavanna and Madiwalayya should be retained as named Sharanas, not reduced into abstract symbols.
The central point is that sacred preparation becomes complete only when Kudalasangama Deva makes it so.

In Vachana 890, water and grain are brought, but Basavanna still asks Kudalasangama Deva to complete the preparation. Both vachanas show that fulfillment depends on right nourishment, right relation, and living grace.

Pranalingi Sthala Vachana 1004 — Chennabasavanna Revealed the Hidden Fire
Pranalingi Vachana 1004 advances this teaching by showing Chennabasavanna as the revealer who awakens the hidden fire and establishes the Linga through the seeker’s being.
In Vachana 890, Chennabasavanna brings water into the vessel, and the preparation awaits completion by Kudalasangama Deva. In Vachana 1004, this matures into Pranalingi realization: the living Sharana does not merely assist preparation, but awakens the inner force by which the whole being is transformed.
